We had a good day. We went on a picnic. The girls and I ate peanut butter and jelly. Seth and my parents had ham sammie. We had a beautiful fruit salad. We also had a pasta salad with some veggies in it. I used oil and vinegar and some fresh spices. It was pretty good.
I watched my neighbor's daughter. She was really good. They played at the park. They flew a kite. They played volleyball.
When we got home, we planted a garden. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, honeydew, basil, cilantro, eggplant, zucchini and acorn squash. It was a family event.
My neighbor came about 5:30 to get her kid. She saw my mom making coleslaw. She asked what we were having for dinner. I told her my husband was outside making sliders. She asked if I was just eating coleslaw. I told her I wasn't eating it because of the mayo. She rolled her eyes. Then got on her high horse about me not eating meat. How ridiculous it was. I just bite my tongue. I didn't want to start an argument about being vegan in front of my mother. All I said was, I don't understand why it's bothers you so much how I eat. It does not effect you. My mother put her two sense in and said, we just worry that you are not getting the nutrients you need. My blood beginning to boil now, but I kept my composure. All I said was we'll see who's laughing when you have heart disease.
Ugh! It's just so annoying. Why do people have to care so much about how I eat? How does my eating affect them? Am I forcing you to be vegan? Do I throw my believes and values down your throat? No! So why do they have to try to force theirs down mine?
this is the story of a girl who is trying to live a vegan life in a family of meat eaters

Day 6
Today we went to the Phoenix Zoo. Before we went I had a bowl of granola with soy milk. My old stand by. At the zoo, my mom got kettle corn. I was a little worried that it might have butter on it, but it's made with oil. I was glad I could eat that.
After the zoo, my mom wanted to stop at Sprinkles to get some cupcakes. I was pretty excited because they have vegan red velvet cupcakes. I haven't tried it yet, but it is something to look forward to in the morning.
For dinner we went to Joe's Farm Grill. I had a portabella sandwich minus the sauce with sweet potato fries. It was pretty good. I watched my family eat corn dogs, and bacon, and pulled pork. I guess the pig lost today.
Bud Light Lime has won it place as desert tonight.

Trying vegan again
Back in September, I tried to be vegan. I succeeded for 2- 3 weeks and then I totally failed. I had been a vegetarian since January 1 and knew I wanted to become vegan. I had already given up eggs. I had been eating cheese and sour cream and ice cream. I thought I would be able to eliminate those items from my diet. I thought I was ready. Obviously, I wasn't.
My husband-he eats meat. My daughter-she eats meat too. My parents-meat eaters. My co-workers-all meat eaters. And my friends-they all eat meat too. No one understood where I was coming from. People tried to change my believes. They tried to tell me I was being mean to my family by not cooking meat for them. I honestly thought I was doing them a favor by not serving them meat. I guess I still think that.
Enter today. On Monday, I decided I would try being vegan again. I have a friend who is giving something up for lent and need some support. I am not religious at all, but I decided I would support my friend by giving something up also. Being vegan is my way of supporting my friend through lent.
On Wednesday, I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a bowl of granola with soy milk. I made it though the day without any animal products. Obviously I didn't eat a lot, but still, no animals were harmed by my eating on that day.
Thursday--Another bowl of granola--that was lunch again. Dinner, hmm, I don't remember. Oh yeah, I has a stromboli without cheese and butter. Just good ol' veggie and pizza dough. Another day of vegan living.
Friday--Veggie burrito--no beans. Plus some tortilla chips with guacamole. Yummy! Yummy! Yum!
Saturday--Left overs--stromboli for lunch and burrito for dinner. Another vegan day. And a day of not cooking. What could be better!
So now my parents are visiting for the next 10 days. I will have to survive my mother's judge of my eating habits. She pretends to support me, but I know she secretly thinks I'm crazy. She thinks I'm not getting the vitamins I need. We will see how it goes.
So today we went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. I had a salad with oil and vinager. I also had this potato salad thing--it was with oil and viniger and dill. It was pretty good. For dinner everyone had sausage. So gross! I don't know how anyone can eat sausage knowing that the casing once had poop in it. Not to mention all the other gross things that sauasge entails. I made some sauted peppers and onions. I had them on a roll. I also had some salad. It was pretty good.
I've made it through 5 days and have had no desire to eat any animal product.
I am enjoying this new path my life is taking.
